Skilled Worker and Skilled Trades Workers (now launched under Express Entry system)
The “Independent” or “skilled workers” category is subject to a point system.
To be eligible for a permanent residence status the applicant must achieve a minimum points out of 1200 points.
Points are awarded in the following areas:
- Age
- Education
- Languages
- Occupation
- Years of Experience
- Family in Canada
- Arranged employment
- Adaptability factors
Applicants are required to pass a medical examination and meet financial requirements – proving that they can be successfully established in Canada.
Candidates will also be required to clear background or security checks.
You can enhance your points by having a job offer from an employer approved by Service Canada.
